TIPPY and JORDAN were appointed Ship's Kitty Recruits following the passing of Chief Ship's Cat Bogey in January '99 (see eulogy for Chief Bogey)

In recognition of the expert care given to the Base Commanding Officer during his recent illness, Ship's Hospital Cats Third Class Tippy and Jordan are herewith promoted to Ship's Hospital Cats Second Class. Their concern for and care of their patient was exemplary, and has resulted in this promotion well ahead of schedule. For their superior performance, they are also awarded the Silver Feeding Dish Award, with crossed swords and diamonds. They continue to serve at the Ship's Hospital Detachment Hiawatha, in Iowa.
